Where Lifelong Learning Thrives

At Brightmore of Wilmington, learning never stops. The community offers a rich variety of
speakers, educational programs, and history presentations designed to keep residents curious,
engaged, and connected to the world around them.

Some programs are led by residents who enjoy sharing their knowledge and expertise, while
others feature guest presenters from the wider community. Recent offerings have included Fort
Fisher Aquarium discussing sea shells and sea turtles, and WilmingtoNColor, a black-owned
cultural storytelling company, presenting on MLK Jr. in Wilmington. Residents have also enjoyed
a Zoom art presentation from the Cleveland Museum of Art, a discussion on adaptive
equipment for aging in place led by a local occupational therapy student, and Spanish lessons
taught by Life Enrichment Coordinator Renee Mastrangelo. Brightmore resident Wayne Wright
PhD presented a thoughtful series on the history of Christmas.

“These programs allow residents to keep learning something new, promoting growth,
connection, confidence, and continued vitality,” said Renee.
