Did you know that watermelon is 92 percent water, or that watermelon is one of the only foods to be classified as both a fruit and a vegetable?
Here at The Commons on a hot Wilmington day, nothing beats the heat better than a cold piece of watermelon and some tunes by one of our favorite entertainers, Phil Brushi.
During last week’s Friday social we celebrated our favorite summer treat, watermelon, while Phil treated us to his “You Raise Me Up” program where he sang “Amazing Grace”, “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, and “I Believe” just to name a few. Gathering with our friends to listen to great music is a fabulous way to start the weekend!

The residents of the Commons came together for an energized Zumba class! The residents chair-danced to some upbeat and feel good songs that left a smile on their faces. Zumba combines music with a combination of fast and slow dance moves to help improve cardiovascular fitness.

The residents of Brightmore decided to hit the beach today, but not to sunbathe… to eat! They enjoyed the view of the Wrightsville Beach Intracoastal Waterway from the windows of Bluewater Grill. The Kempton residents love crafting and on Thursday afternoon they made mosaic picture frames. They each picked the frame, as well as the color and style of the mosaic pieces. Who doesn’t love a little fresh air and sunshine, especially with popsicles and oldies music? The Kempton residents enjoyed an afternoon on the front porch with this refreshing treat and lovely music. The afternoon was filled with fun and laughter as well as a bubble fan, chalk, and water guns.
