Wilmington Water Tours with Brightmore of Wilmington

Mother Nature was definitely on our side! The residents of Brightmore Independent Living enjoyed a beautiful morning cruise on the Cape Fear River with Wilmington Water Tours Black Water Adventure Cruise. Our tour guides were the owners, Doug and Dianne Upton; and what a fabulous job they did educating us on the history of the Cape Fear River! We enjoyed a relaxing, scenic 2 hour cruise from downtown Wilmington up the Northeast Cape Fear River. As we cruised through the Castle Hayne Aquifer and by the bluffs of the Rose Hill Plantation, we saw the nesting Osprey; striped bass as they jumped from spot to spot; a small alligators sunning on the banks; and traps in the river waiting to capture Blue Crabs. It’s amazing how you can live in Wilmington for years and never realize the beauty that we have right in our “backyard.” It really makes you appreciate where you live and want to make sure we keep our environment and rivers clean and safe. Once we turned around to return, we enjoyed a boxed picnic lunch made by our very own Ryan McKoy, Morrison Dietary Director! A perfect end to a perfect morning!
