Twist and Shout at Brightmore

Brightmore of Wilmington turned back the clock with a lively sock hop that had the community
abuzz. The dance brought together about 40 residents and nine students from the Christian
Homeschool Center, ages 15 to 20, who study ballroom dance where Wellness Director Kati
Naef has taught for many years.

Kati carefully curated 50s rock and roll, doo-wop, and classic pop hits for the event. Dressed in fun 50s styles, everyone enjoyed a space transformed into a cheerful dance hall complete with records hanging from the ceiling, glowing lights, and colorful decorations. Dancers took to the floor to jive with the students, who also took time to show off their own fancy footwork.

The event was the talk of the community for days. Kati, who is also teaching a dance class at
Brightmore, hopes this is just the beginning of more shared dance experiences.
