Heart Healthy Smoothies!

Heart Healthy SmoothiesFebruary is designated as American Heart Month to promote cardiovascular health and raise awareness about heart disease. Here at The Commons of Brightmore, our residents enjoyed a hearth healthy smoothie. Chef Justin whipped up a strawberry & beet smoothie that was delicious and nutritious. Beets contain a high concentration of nitrates which can help lower your blood pressure levels. This may lead to a reduced risk of heart disease and stroke. We encourage you to give the recipe a try!

Strawberry Beet Smoothie:

  • -1 cup chopped beets (cooked or raw)
  • -1 cup frozen strawberries
  • -2 cups apple juice
  • -1 tablespoon honey
  • -1/2 -1 inch fresh ginger

Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and puree until smooth.
