Flag Day Celebration at Brightmore
In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14th, and it commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. The Flag Resolution passed on June 14, 1777, stating: “Resolved, that the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.” Francis Hopkinson, a Continental Congressman from New Jersey and a consultant to the design of the Great Seal of the United States, created this design.
Brightmore celebrated “Flag Day” a little early by delivering door-to-door “All-American” Root Beer or Coke Floats to all the residents to show our patriotism and respect to The Grand Old Flag. Many of our residents were dressed in Red, White and Blue and decorated their doors for the occasion.
