Brightmore University presented the 2nd Session of our “Exploration of Dance Series”: Contemporary – From Ballet to Today presented by Ella Rose Hood, International Baccalaureate Program Student from Hoggard High School. This session delved into the depths of dance and showed the progression of how society has changed the styles of dance, how they began, changed and are today. Ella explained how similar Contemporary Dance is to Modern Dance and how changing just a few elements make a world of difference to a dancer’s story. Contemporary has three different styles of dance: Flowy, fluid and gentle, Power, and Emotional. Ella danced two of these styles for us and then showed a few videos of the Powerful dance of Contemporary. We are really looking forward to the 3rd session, which will be Lyrical!
