Carolina Bones Come to Brightmore!

Brightmore retirement community had a very enjoyable evening listening to an ensemble of six trombone players from our community called “Carolina Bones.” The members of this group play in some of the favorite big bands around town and we got the privilege to hear a special concert played by this very talented trombone section. They started the concert with the Star Spangled Banner and the residents stood and enjoyed singing along. We listened to several songs we knew including Amazing Grace, Break Bread Together, Sandman, and Fly Me to the Moon. We also heard several tunes that we did not know, but we quickly started swaying to and tapping our feet. One really neat fact that we learned about this group was that one of the players actually played a solo of Over the Rainbow to Julie Garland in her later years before she died. The residents left saying what a treat this was for them and we can’t wait for this ensemble to come back to Brightmore of Wilmington!
