Retirement community residents of Brightmore of Wilmington celebrated their 4th Annual “Salute to the Troops Concert & Dance”: A Pre-4th of July event! In conjunction with Wilmington Funeral & Cremation, Brightmore supported Parkinson’s of the Carolinas with an evening of delicious food and live music as we danced the night away with The Andrew Thieland Big Band of Myrtle Beach performing Big Band, Jazz and Patriotic music favorites. Post 10 of Wilmington started the evening off as they presented the military flags as we said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the Star Spangled Banner. A dinner blessing was given by Brightmore resident, Navy Chaplain Robert Weeks and a picnic-style buffet was served by Morrison Dining Services. The evening was accompanied by a 43 item raffle table, popcorn, wine bar, T-shirt sale & a Red, White & Blue Candy Bar with homemade pies all to benefit The Wilmington Parkinson’s & Lewy Body Support Group through The Parkinson’s Association of the Carolinas. Residents, family, friends, staff and the community had an evening under the stars as they enjoyed the sounds of summer! We can’t wait to plan next year’s event. Every year it gets bigger with guests from the community and the amount that we fundraise, so that must be a good sign!
