Brightmore University Presents “Mrs. WWII Wilmington”

October 6, 2016

Brightmore University presented the “Preview of Mrs. WWII Wilmington: We Fell  in Love at the USO”  with speakers Wilbur Jones, Retired Navy Captain, Military Author & Historian and  Tony Stimac, Nationally Acclaimed Director/Producer & Playwright on Wednesday, October 5th. Residents and guests were able to take a step back into Wilmington history as they previewed the upcoming 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Hannah Block Historic USO Building in Downtown Wilmington.  Captain Wilbur Jones of the World War II Home Front Heritage Coalition discussed the building history of the Hannah Block USO Building. He brought back great memories of bands, dances, games, and exhibits that took place starting in 1941, with the servicemen of that time. He even told us that his own sister met her husband of 60 years, who was also a serviceman, at the USO building. Tony Stimac, set the stage for the upcoming nationally acclaimed theatrical Director/Producer and Playwright of “Mrs. World War II Wilmington” that will be shown on Veteran’s Day weekend to commemorate this wonderful celebration!
