3rd Annual Jewish Festival Comes to Wilmington
May 4, 2016
As a sponsor, Brightmore Independent was invited to attend the 3rd Annual Wilmington Jewish Film Festival. As in the past, the residents enjoyed an evening out watching an acclaimed film and then enjoying a delicious dessert reception afterwards. This year, Brightmore attended the film, “Marvin Hamlisch: What He Did for Love.” A musical prodigy accepted to Julliard at age six, Marvin Hamlisch devoted his talents to musical theater and pop music composition. The composer and conductor earned 4 Grammys, 4 Emmys, 3 Oscars, 3 Golden Globes, a Tony Award and a Pulitzer Prize. Hit after hit, “The Way We Were,” “Nobody Does it Better,” and scores for The Sting, Sophie’s Choice and A Chorus Line, made him the go-to-composer and performer for film, Broadway, and concert halls worldwide. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the film because they grew up listening to his some of his most popular compositions, such as “The Way We Were”, sung by Barbara Streisand, and the theme from “Ice Castles.” We look forward to next year’s films!
