Throw for a Healthy Heart at Brightmore
“Throw for a Healthy Heart” on National Wear Red Day!
Friday, February 5th was National Wear Red Day to support the American Heart Association. Every year at Brightmore, we plan a “healthy heart” activity and healthy raffle baskets, so we can raise money for our own “Heart Healthy” activity in the spring. This year our Wellness Director, Madeline Woodard, came up with the creative idea and we had our 1st Annual Heart Healthy Bean Bag Toss! Residents who wore RED paid $1.00 “throw” for your heart and see how far they could toss. They could pay for as many tosses as they would like to stay in the competition and in the end we had a 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place winner. The residents also enjoy healthy fresh fruit kabobs as they socialized and waited for their chance on winning one of our “Heart Healthy” Raffle Baskets! The room was a “Sea of Red” to support the American Heart Association, but also a fun and easy opportunity to raise $135.00 for an activity just for us. For the past two years we have spent the money to take the residents therapeutic horseback riding, and we hope to do the same this year!
