“The Joy of Cooking with Friends”
Brightmore’s Cooking Class was one of the best ones yet! This month we challenged ourselves to make homemade Hummus. Hummus is a Levantine dip or spread made from mashed chickpeas, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. It is popular in the Middle East and Mediterranean, but has quickly become a popular dish around the globe! Our ladies enjoyed making a dish that most of them had not even tried before! Since residents do not cook a lot anymore, it was fun for them to zest lemons, grate garlic and use a food processor again!
A few comments from the ladies as we made our dishes.
“How fun it is to use kitchen tools that I have not had in my hands for a long time.” –Cleo Beatty
“This actually came out better than I thought. I was sure I would not like it, but I do!” -Gen Berray
