Styles of Jazz for Ladies Night Out

February 5, 2018

“If you have to ask what jazz is, you’ll never know.” ― Louis Armstrong A very special group of residents got to enjoy a “Ladies Night Out” as we attended the 38th Annual NC Jazz Festival Opening Night “Styles of Jazz” at the Hilton Downtown Riverside. It was an evening none of us expected…a magical evening of musicians sharing their instrumental talents with us. Should it be the stand-up bass, saxophone, flute, piano, drums or vocal, they all amazed us!  Mangroove started the night off with a tribute to Horace Silver. Followed by the Nicki Parrott Trio and ending with Rosssano Sportiello on piano. The vocals of Nicki Parrott, left all of us in awe as she sang Ella Fitzgerald and Patty Lee’s “Fever”. Jazz music comes in all forms and we definitely got to experience those at the opening festival night and we left wanting to hear so much more!
