Remembering the 1940’s
June 12, 2017
On Friday, June 9th our residents took a trip down memory lane to the 1940’s. If you were born before 1940, you were alive before polio shots, antibiotics, credit cards, air conditioners, Big Macs and even disposable diapers. We had snacks that became famous during the 40’s such as M&M’s and Rice Krispy Treats and talked about the events that happened during those years. Our residents recalled having blackout curtains and drills during the end of the war, the death of the beloved president Franklin Roosevelt, starting their own families and the hardships of just trying to make ends meet during that time. We all were reminded of just how much times have changed and how strong the past has made our residents.
