Some people call pirates the human sharks of the sea While observing Shark Week, The Commons at Brightmore celebrated pirates all day long! Residents started their day by finding out their pirate names, getting temporary pirate tattoos and playing a game of pirate cornhole!

Did you know that:
some of the most famous pirates of all time prowled the shores of the Cape Fear Coast? Local historian John Miles stopped to expand our pirate knowledge. Some of the most notable pirates such as Blackbeard, Charles Vane, Edward Low, “Calico” Jack, Mary Read and Anne Bonny committed acts of piracy along the shores of the North Carolina coast – seizing ships, cargo, and sailors!
