National Assisted Living Week Kick Off at The Commons

September 10, 2019 In honor of National Assisted Living Week, September 9th – 14th, The Commons’ theme was Hometown Beach Week.  The National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) was established in 1995. National Assisted Living Week provides a unique opportunity for residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and the surrounding communities to recognize the role of Assisted Living in caring for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Since we live at the beach, we took the opportunity to make a seashell craft.  Today, our residents made seashell votive candles. Many residents commented they would use them as a night light, or give them as gifts.  This is such an easy craft to do at home.  All you need is a small jar, Krylon sea glass paint, twine, and, of course, seashells.
