Brightmore Independent living’s theme this year was a “Groovy Kind Of Love” 60’s/70’s Picture Party. Residents of Brightmore donated pictures of themselves during the 1960’s and 1970’s. They also gave unique facts about themselves that no one knew. With this information, we created an interactive game for the residents to be a part of for the party. Imagine finding out your neighbor traveled cross-country on a Harley Davidson or was a contestant and won on the Price Is Right! The party also included dressing the part; tie-dyed clothing, bright colors were amongst the crowd. We had a photo booth, colorful food and music of the 60’s & 70’s flowing! It was a different Valentine’s Day, but one the residents will never forget! Valentine’s Day at the Kempton was celebrated with a wonderful luncheon, peaceful harp music and an afternoon fondue party. For lunch the residents had a choice of Tenderloin Steak served with baked potato and baby carrots or Pan Seared Scallops served with rice pilaf, asparagus and dinner roll. Harpist Carol Greene played beautiful music throughout the meal. What a way to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Residents also nominated and voted on who the King and Queen of the day would be. This year’s Queen is Ms. Elizabeth Day and the King is Mr. Gene Nelson! All the residents at the Kempton enjoyed this special Valentine’s Day! Residents at The Commons celebrated Valentine’s Day with a big social where residents were entertained with music, refreshments, and goodies. Phil Brushi played a wonderful set of familiar tunes, and you could feel love in the air with all the long songs he played! Earlier in the day, residents helped create goodies that reflected the holiday sentiment. The Commons always has a great time on Valentine’s Day!
