Educate Yourself about Elder Abuse
Thursday, June 15th 2017, was World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The Kempton Assisted Living had three guest speakers come in and do a presentation on the different types of Elder Abuse. The guest speakers were Holli Blackwelder the Regional Ombudsman, Regina Anderson an Adult Home Specialist Social Worker and Angela Olson-Boseman an Adult Protective Services Social Worker. The guest speakers talked about the different types of Elder Abuse and what to do if you suspect Elder Abuse. They also explained to the residents the role they play if Elder Abuse is suspected. Elder Abuse can take on many forms such as physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, neglect by a caregiver, self-neglect, exploitation and financial exploitation including fraud and scams. The presentations were informative and we are so thankful for the guest speakers taking the time out of their day.
