We made “Zen” Mason Jars toady. This is done by transforming an ordinary jar into a calming, meditation jar. Watch the glitter slowly fall to the bottom after you shake it. This is creating a relaxing way to take a moment to calm your fears, anxiety and worry.
We celebrated our mothers with a display of a mother’s journey shown through her hands. In addition we had mimosas and brunch to celebrate the journeys as moms!
We had a fabulous Cinco de Mayo celebration! Residents enjoyed margaritas, Jarritos sodas, chips/queso/salsa, churro cookies, cinnamon croissants, a piñata and games in the courtyard!
We recently held a nutritional seminar. It focused on explaining how healthy foods assist the cardiac, renal and gastrointestinal system. Afterwards, each Resident made a strawberry & almond chicken salad and also sampled 3 different kinds of smoothies!
The Men of Brightmore came for afternoon donuts, pastries and coffee while enjoying each other’s company.
The Women’s Group at Brightmore gathered together for afternoon tea and enjoyed laughter and friendship! They look forward to be together.
The North Carolina Aquarium’s Outreach Program made a stop at The Commons this week. The focus was a “Turtle Time” program. The educators lead us on a journey to examine the lives of turtles. Celebrating April Birthdays and Earth Day with musical performance by Susan Savia! Each resident enjoyed a plant to take home with fun earth day snacks including worm oreo pudding.
This week’s craft was making our own DIY spring flowers Our residents showed their creativity and brought beautiful colors and warmth to the halls of Brightmore!
A spring Carnival made a stop this week at The Commons! Residents played bottle toss, balloon darts and we even had a duck pond. We enjoyed corn dogs, cotton candy, fresh popcorn, and ice-cold sodas. Everyone relaxed and socialized while we visited with our friends and family.
