Brightmore Hosts 5th Annual Salute to the Troops Concert and Dance
On June 27th, Brightmore held its 5th Annual “Salute to the Troops Concert & Dance”: A pre-4th of July Event for the residents, friends and family and an open invitation to the Wilmington senior community. This is known as Brightmore’s “Don’t Miss” event! This fun-filled evening starts with the Presentation of the American Flag by The American Legion Post 10, a blessing concluded by singing “God Bless America” accompanied by the Andrew Thielen Big Band of Myrtle Beach. Throughout the evening, they played Big Band, Jazz, Beach and Patriotic favorites as they performed under a big tent. Besides “dancing the night away,” guests enjoyed a picnic-style buffet, over 40 raffle items, popcorn, drinks, pies, and a candy bar! Brightmore is also known for the crepe paper American flag that runs the entrance stairway and is the first thing you see as you enter the building. Guests who return every year for this event say it wouldn’t be the same without it! All proceeds from this wonderful annual event goes to benefit The Wilmington Parkinson & Lewy Body Support Group through The Parkinson Association of the Carolinas. It is the PERFECT way to start celebrating our Independence Day, July 4th and to thank and remember our U.S. Military!
