This past Saturday, Brightmore of Wilmington retirement community held its 5th Annual Holiday Craft Bazaar! Every year the Craft Group of Brightmore starts crafting in January to prepare for this annual event. Our crafting group consists of approximately 20 residents who are very talented in many different areas and meet 1-2 times monthly. We also have some very dedicated knitters, quilters, cross-stitches and painters that work diligently on their own to be able to donate their work to our bazaar! Every year we pick a local charity to which we will donate 100% of our proceeds. Earlier this year, we started a relationship with Coastal Horizons supporting their annual Duck Derby that raises money for all their services, which include both adult and youth emergency shelters and counseling services. We decided since the Christmas Holiday was coming up, we would support the Coastal Horizon’s Youth Shelter, so 100% of what we made will go to the boys and girls in their care to not only help with Christmas but also basic necessities. Coastal Horizons also had shoppers take pictures with their “Duck Derby” Duck and each person who did will get a free rubber duck with their name on it registered in the 2017 Duck Derby! It was a very fun, festive and profitable day! We are proud to say that we will be presenting them with $1,000.00 in the month of December. We are so happy with the amount of money we raised for them and Brightmore thanks each and every one of our crafters for their time and commitment to helping others in their community!
