Some experts say that walking is the best form of exercise anyone above the age of 50 can do. Walking can improve cardiovascular fitness and strengthen muscles and bones, it also helps increase mood. Here at the Commons, we encourage our residents to stay as active as possible, and we are trying to make walking fun. Several times a week we have our walking club and recently we have added pedometers into the mix so we can count our steps. On beautiful days, one of our favorite places to walk is around the pond, when the weather does not cooperate, we walk through the halls greeting our friends and encouraging others to join us. Our resident’s steps will be turning into miles in the next few weeks, and we are excited to see who walks the farthest!
